Husband of Estella Alexandra Oakley nee Dabinett of Burnett Street, Redfern, NSW. Henry and Estella married in Sydney during 1915c.

Prior to enlisting Henry had been a member of St. George's Rifle Club.

Commenced return to Australia on 28 March 1919 aboard HT Port MacQuarie disembarking on 27 May 1919
