Biography

Edward James Unwin   born 1895  to James Thomas Unwin and Mary Cockman (nee Fidler)   He died in  1973

 

He received injuries in the war and was returned to Australia

Brother of Charles William Unwin who returned to Australia on 4 February 1919 having served with the 8th Battalion; Herbert Allen Unwin who return to Australia on 28 June 1919 having served with the 58th Battalion and Thomas Henry Unwin who was killed in action on 23 March 1917 while serving with the 29th Battalion. He is buried in the Beaumetz Cross Roads Cemetery, Row C, Grave 5

10 October 1916 - enlisted at Warrnambool, Victoria with the 14th Battalion and with the rank of Private

Commenced return to Australia on 12 May 1918 aboard HT Gaika disembarking on 5 July 1918

13 August 1918 - discharged at the 3rd Military District as medically unfit due to heart issues

During 1919c Edmund married Olive Elizabeth Nesbit in Victoria
