Son of John Finsen Simonsen and Caroline Simonsen nee Sorsdhal of Crofton Street, Bundaberg, QLD.

Brother of Charles Reginald Simonsen who returned to Australia in 1920 having served with the 15th Battalion and John Morton Simonsen who was killed in action on the 10 June 1918 while serving with the 15th Battalion. John is buried in the Corbie Cemetery Extension. Plot 2, Row E, Grave 63

Married but separated with one child. Wife's address was not known

Commenced return to Australia on 10 April 1919 aboard HT Medic disembarking on 31st May 1919
