Biography contributed by Heather Ernszt
Private Michael Norman Harold DILLON was known as Harold to his family.
He was the first of seven children born to John DILLON and Sabina Cecilia CONLON.
Private Dillon enlisted on the 12th July 1915 and required his parents permission to enlist as he was only 18 years old.
Private Dillon was listed as Missing in Action after the 32nd Battalion suffered heavy losses in July 1916 at Fromelles France.
However his family were not given confirmation of his death until September 1917, despite his mother writing to the military authorities many times.
Three younger brothers enlisted in WWII and all safely returned home to South Australia.
