At the age of 24 years old on 10 August 1915 Langman, Wallace Fred was enlisted as a soldier to the Australian army. After training, his very first task was to go to Egypt. He stayed there only briefly before travelling on to England for further training. In October 1916 he travelled to France and was transferred to the 15th Field Company Engineers, part of the 5th Division.
On 28 September 1917 he was wounded at the battle of Polygon Wood, suffering from shell shock. After some time in hospital, he rejoined his unit in early December. He served through the rest of the war and left England to return to Australia in May 1919. No details are known of his later life.
