Died on this date - 19th August.......Herbert Townsing was born at Avoca, near Ampitheatre, Victoria on 17th November, 1885

He enlisted in Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 27th August, 1915 as a 29 year old, married, Labourer from Perth, Western Australia.

After spending time in Egypt for training & a promotion to Corporal, he was sent to France & arrived on 11th June, 1916.

Corporal Herbert Townsing was wounded in action on 8th August, 1916 & invalided to England with shrapnel wounds to back & his condition was reported as serious.

Corporal Herbert Townsing died on 19th August, 1916 at General Hospital, Fratton Bridge, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England from gunshot wounds to back received in action in France.

He was buried in Kingston Cemetery, (also known as Portsea Cemetery or St. Marys Road Cemetery) Portsmouth, Hampshire, England.
