3 Oct 1917: Honoured Distinguished Conduct Medal, For conspicuous gallantry & devotion to duty A truck with ammunition close to the dressing station was set on fire & several shells exploded endargering the lives of the wounded & others For ten minutes he continued to pour water onto the burning truck until severly wounded by an explosion His prompt action undoubtedly saved many lives

Horatio Bertram WARNER-BUBB was born in Murwillumbah, NSW in 1895

His parents were Oswald Charles WARNER-BUBB & Melena Hardcastle SABINE

He enlisted in Sydney on 17th May, 1916 and embarked from Sydney on the HMAT Anchises on 24th August, 1916 with the 1st Pioneers Battalion, 5th Reinforcements

He returned to Australia on 12th June, 1919 on the ship Port Darwin and was discharged on 11th September, 1919

He was engaged to Melva Edna HARVEY in 1930 but sadly he died before he could marry her

Horatio died in Ingham, Queensland (late of Victoria Mill) on 28th February, 1932 following surgery for appendicitis and is buried in the Victoria Plantation Cemetery

His brother Cyril Sabina WARNER-BUBB also served during WW1 (SN 21028) and returned to Australia in 1919
