Claud George Jones was born in 1900, and lived in Torrensville, South Australia as a farm hand with Baptist family and his mother Mrs Elizabeth Jane Jones. When he was 15, he embarked as a private in the 32nd Infantry Battalion from Adelaide on the HMAT A70 Ballarat, on the 12th of August 1916. His Regimental Number is 3676 and his war service was the Western Front. He earned the British War Medal and the Victory Medal before returning to Australia on the 13th of January 1919.
Claud also served briefly in World War II, signing up in 1939 before being discharged in 1940 as medically unfit.
He lived a long life and passed away in Adelaide on the 2nd of May 1982, leaving his grave in Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, South Australia. He also has a plaque in The South Australian Garden Of Remembrance.
