William Thomas was born in 1896 in Bailieston East, Victoria, Australia. To Charles, and  Louisa Parfrey. He had eight brothers and six sisters. William enlisted in the AIF on 28th January 1916 He was placed in the 8th Australian Infantry Battalion which embarked on the,    27 May 1916 onboard HMAT Ascanius A11 which departed from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia William was killed in action on 14 April 1918 in Vieux-Berquin, Nord, France, at the age of 22, and was buried there.
