Biography contributed by Leigh Treyvaud

Whilst serving with the 58th Btn he was killed in action in France on 25 Mar 1917 just prior to the First Battle of Bullecourt fought on 11 April 1917. Army records show he was first buried at ‘Sunken Road, front of Morchies near Bapaume’. It appears his body was recovered from that grave and then reburied at Queant Road Cemetery, Buissy, Nord Pas de Calais, France in Plt 8. Row D. Grave 6.

Personal effects of a damaged watch, identity disc, wallet, note book, letters and coins were returned to his mother in Nov 1917.
