Henry was the eldest of six children of Frederick George Roberts (born 1855 at Bathurst, NSW) and Harriet Emmaline White (born 1869 at Patrick's Plains, NSW). Frederick and Harriet married in 1893 at Gunnedah, NSW and moved to QLD where they lived at St George and Warwick before settling at Reid's Creek in Gayndah, Wide Bay, QLD. Frederick was a Farmer.
Henry lived at Reid's Creek, Gayndah, QLD where he worked as a Labourer and was a member of the Reid's Creek Rifle Club. He enlisted in the AIF in June 1916, and served as a Private (Service N0:5902) with 25th Infantry Battalion. Henry was Discharged in March 1918 for medical reasons (Trachoma) and returned to Gayndah in QLD. Henry's brothers Alfred Harold (Service No:2151) and Vincent Henry (Service No:2154), and Brother-in-Law Herbert Harold Kubler (Service No:3316) served in WWI. Brother William Edwards (Service No:QX3767) and nephew Kenneth John Roberts (RAAF, Service No:434269) served in WWII. Brother Vincent Harry also served in WWII with the ACMF (Service No:Q123560).
In June 1919 Henry married Johanna Agnes Kubler (born 1899 at Boonah, QLD) and they lived in Brisbane where Henry was a Confectioner. In 1929 Henry and Johanna moved to Croftby via Boonah where Henry was a Mail Contractor before returning to Brisbane in 1936. Henry worked in Brisbane as a Truck Driver until he retired. He died in 1975 and Johanna in 1983.
