Son of William DEPLEDGE and Charlotte Eliza nee STIMSON, Victor Harbor, SA.

Jim was educated at Victor Harbor and left school at the age of 14. In 1890 he commenced work for G. & R. Wills becoming later a Commerical Traveller for the company. He remained with the firm after he returned from the War and continued until his retirement when he received from the firm in recognition of his services a suitably inscribed wall haning barometre thermometer.
Later Jim went into business on his own behalf. He had a lending library in Goodwood, St. Peters, Hindmarsh and Colonel Light Gardens for ten years. He also had a mobile library deliving books and receiving them in return.
Jim and Allie were married in 1926 and made their home at 25 Bevington Road, Glenunga.
He died suddenly while visiting his brother Alfred for his birthday at Encounter Bay. James and Allie are buried at Victor Harbor Cemetery.
