Son of George Henry Oppel and Mary Augusta Amelia Oppel nee Schultz of Melbourne, Victoria.

Husband of May Oppel of Parliament Terrace, Arncliffe, NSW. Albert and May married during 1915c in Newtown, NSW.

Commenced return to Australia on 24 June 1916 aboard HT Euripides disembarking on 8 August 1916.

Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

Migrated to New Zealand in 1927 where he changed his name to Charles Albert Taylor and stating that he was single, his wife May was still alive in 1928 but did not go to NZ.
