Served a seven year butcher apprenticeship with W.H. Simpkin of Nottingham, England. Prior to coming to Australia Alexander served in the Royal Horse Artillery for twelve years.
Next of kin given as his sister E.M. Bull of Flood Street, Olkbrook, England.
Commenced return to Australia on 8 May 1916 aboard HT Themistocles disembarking on the 19 June 1916
