Stretcher Bearing 4.10.1917
W H Bloxham was in the 8th Battalion during the advance on Passchendaele. On 4th October while the 8th Battalion was attacking its objective being Broodseinde Ridge near Zonnebeke in Belgium, Bloxham and a fellow stretcher bearer (C. Haskin) came across the body of Pte. P M Connelly who was killed in the same blast that mortally wounded Lt. J T Maguire, MC, 'D' Coy, 8th Battalion. Connelly was identified by the disc around his neck which was sent back to the 4th Orderly room.
