Biography -Gustav Albert Schlueter
Known as "Gus", Gustav Albert Schlueter enlisted in the AIF on 20 July 1915. His occupation at the time was Clerk and he was living at 115 Greville St, Prahran.
He embarked on 8 February 1916 and served with the 21st Battalion in France.
He was wounded 26 Aug 1916, recovered and sent back to the front.
He was hospitalised suffering from Trench Foot on 4 January 1917 and listed as ‘dangerously ill’ due to gangrene.
He was transferred to England on 14 Feb 1917 and served the remainder of the war in England being repatriated back to Australia on 11 December 1918 and Discharged from AIF on 27 March 1919.
Gus registered a change of name to Gustav Albert SLATER on 8 November 1919.
