Died on this date - 5th July......

I find today's story especially sad - about 2 brothers - one that I researched back in 2014 & have remembered their stories since  :(
William Leslie Watts was born in 1894 near Tamworth, NSW & enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 8th February, 1916 as a 21 year old Farmer from Wonga Creek, Manilla, NSW. His older brother - Bertie Watts (aged 24) enlisted the same day. Bertie had a service number of 3051 & William had a service number of 3052.
Both brothers embarked from Sydney, NSW with the 6th Reinforcements of 30th Infantry Battalion & arrived in England on 16th June, 1916 for further training which was mostly conducted around the Salisbury Plain areas of Wiltshire.

Private Bertie Watts died on 26th June, 1916 at Fargo Military Hospital, Wiltshire from Pneumonia & was buried in Durrington Cemetery, Wiltshire.

Private William Leslie Watts died on 5th July, 1916 at Western Hospital, Seagrave Road, Fulham, England from Measles. He was buried in All Souls Cemetery, Kensal Green, London, England where 19 other WW1 Australians are buried.

** Another Brother – Private Reginald Watts – 336, 13th Battalion was wounded at Gallipoli Landing on 1st May, 1915 – Gunshot wound with Fracture to Right Forearm (serious). He was returned to Australia in 1915 & discharged from Service on 27th April, 1916.
