Add my storyBiography contributed by Geoffrey Gillon
He was 23. His brother, Gunner Matthew Elliot, aged 29, Service Number 6941, also fell but the fortunes of war denied him the honour of a soldier’s grave. He is therefore commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. He served with the 4th Brigade, Australian Field Artillery.
Both were born Delny, Ross-shire, Scotland. Delny (Scottish Gaelic: Deilgnidh) is a small hamlet in the parish of Kilmuir-Easter in Ross-shire, Scotland
They were sons of John and Margaret Jane Elliot.
The brothers are remembered on the Kilmuir Easter War Memorial. Kilmuir Easter is a parish in the county of Ross and Cromarty, Scotland, 4 miles South of Tain. It is bounded by the Cromarty Firth, of which it commands a view. It contains the hamlets of Nigg, Kincardine, Ederton, Logie Easter, and Rosskeen.
