"Mrs. J. H. Alcorn, of Ruby-street, Kelvin Grove, has received the sad news that her husband Private J. H. Alcorn died of wounds in France on October 13. Private Alcorn was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Alcorn of Ruth-street, South Brisbane." - from the Brisbane Courier 21 Nov 1917 (nla.gov.au)
