Coolness and Courage

Norman John Edwin Mounsey (M.M.), Private, Australian Field Ambulance enlisted for WW1 along with 3 of his brothers.

On 10th August 1918, as a stretcher bearer with the No.3 Field Ambulance, dressed wounds and carried soldiers to comparative safety whilst under heavy shell fire in company with Lance Corporal H.N.McLeod (M.M.).

From the ensuing citation, "Their courage and coolness has drawn upon them the admiration of their comrades."

Returning home from WW1 Grandad proceeded to have a large family with his wife Olive Hope Mounsey, my father Norman Edwin Derrick Mounsey being born in 1932.

He went on to serve in WW2 and returned home safely, passing away 30th November 1955.
