Biography

Thomas Arbuckle TWADDLE was born c. 1874 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland (his age varies on different records)

His parents were William & Marion TWADDLE from Hamilton in Scotland

He married Sarah Ann McDONALD in Scotland & came out to Australia in 1911 on his own.  His wife & children followed later and she remarried a William Caddie MURRAY in Victoria

Thomas had previous service with the 2nd Scottish Rifles and then enlisted with the Australian Army on 15th July, 1915 with the 13th Battalion, 10th reinforcements - Unit embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Ballarat on 6th Sept. 1915 - Service No. 3130

He was Killed In Action on 9th July 1916 in Fleurbaix, France (Battle of Fromelles) and is buried in Brewery Orchard Cemetery (Plot IV, row E, grave no. 31, Bois Greiner, France
