Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Scougall, of Duninald, Bowen terrace, New Farm, have received news that their, eldest son, Lieutenant F. B. Scougall, was killed in action on 20th September. Lieutenant F. B. Scougall was one of the first in Brisbane to join the colours, after the declaration of war. He joined as a private, and left with the 9th Battalion as a lance-corporal. He was at the landing in Gallipoli, where he gained his commission as 2nd. Lieutenant, and was wounded shortly afterwards, and sent to England for an operation. He was in hospital for some four months, and on regaining his strength joined his battalion in France, shortly afterwards gaining his lst-lieutenancy. With the exception of a short furlough in England, he had been on active service in France for two years. Prior to enlisting he was with the Fraser Ramsey, Propy.
