Lewis was married to Annie Dark in 1914 in Sydney, Australia and they had a son named John. Annie's brother, [Lewis's brother-in-law] Private Norman Dark-Service Number: 4787-55th Bn. Australian Infantry, A.I.F., fell in Flanders on 26 September 1917 and, having no known grave, is commemorated on the YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL in Belgium at Panels 7 - 17 - 23 - 25 - 27 - 29 - 31.
