To France 18.7.18, joined 46Bn at the front 25.7.18. Killed in Action 21.9.18 at the Hindenburg Line. Commemorated on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial. His mother records on his Roll of Honour scroll, held by the Aust War Memorial, that he was a cousin of Captain W. Symons, Victoria Cross winner. His brother Pte W.G. Ball was KIA on Gallipoli 1915.
