9 Aug 1915: Embarked AIF WW1, Private, 2682, 4th Infantry Battalion, Embarked on HMAT 'A54' Runic from Sydney on 9th August 1915, disembarking Egypt 13th November 1915.
9 Aug 1915: Enlisted AIF WW1, Private, 2682, 4th Infantry Battalion, Place of enlistment - Liverpool, New South Wales
14 Nov 1915: Embarked AIF WW1, Private, 2682, 4th Infantry Battalion, Embarked on HMT Argyllshire from Alexandria, Egypt on 14th November 1915, disembarking the Gallipoli Peninsula on 7th December 1915 to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force. His Service Record states he reverted to the ranks from Acting Sergeant on 8th December 1915. He returned to Alexandria, Egypt on 29th December 1915.

15 Feb 1916: Promoted AIF WW1, Corporal, 4th Infantry Battalion
8 Mar 1916: Promoted AIF WW1, Sergeant, 4th Infantry Battalion
23 Mar 1916: Embarked AIF WW1, Sergeant, 2682, 4th Infantry Battalion, Embarked on HMT Simla from Alexandria, Egypt on 23rd March 1916, disembarking Marseilles, France on 30th March 1916 to join British Expeditionary Force.
24 Jul 1916: Wounded AIF WW1, Sergeant, 2682, 4th Infantry Battalion, Wounded in action, shell shock. Treated at a Casualty Clearing Station the admitted to the 6th General Hospital Rouen, France. Rejoined unit on 26th August 1916.
4 Mar 1917: Promoted AIF WW1, Company Sergeant Major, 4th Infantry Battalion, Had been promoted to Temporary Company Sergeant Major on 17th January 1917.
13 Apr 1917: Wounded AIF WW1, Company Sergeant Major, 2682, 4th Infantry Battalion, Wounded in action, second occasion. Gun shot wound to right leg and fractured patella. Treated by 3rd Field Ambulance, then 9th Casualty Clearing Station and then transferred to 8th General Hospital Rouen, France. Succumbed to wounds on 11th May 1917.
