DUNN, Edward Ernest -  Driver 3625, 2nd Field Artillery Brigade was the son of George and Euphemia (nee STONE) DUNN.

This is a very sad and mysterious or mismanaged event. The record holds virtually no information regarding Ernest Edward  DUNN’s movements or  his death most which is unusual. It is filled with constant pleas for

information from many individuals & organizations and responses which display lack of any factual information. Presumably the chaos at Gallipoli is the reason but for the family it was a tragedy.

12/5/15 comrades report 1917-Said to be shot close to heart, probably died on hospital ship- in 2nd

Brigade Ammunition Column at that time.

 

In 1917 the findings of the court of Inquiry held at Rouen France 3/5/17 to 5/9/17 were as follows.

Even when an identity disc is finally found and sent to his father in July 1920 no information is documented in his record regarding an exhumation and the record stands as No Known Grave.

George wrote on the back of the Receipt of the Consignment From the Defence Department when he signed and returned it in 1920  “ Thanks very much the disc is highly prized  yours truly G.Dunn.”
