Roy Rowland was unmarried and living in Willunga when he enlisted at Adelaide . He was 20 yrs old with a fresh complexion, brown eyes and dark brownhair. He weighed 139lbs (63kg) and was 5"6" (168cm) tall.

In 1921 Roy married Alice Sybil Greenfield. They resided at Fullarton where he died on 27 Decemebr 1951 aged 56.
