Son of Michael O'Shea and Hannah O'Shea of Lavington, via Albury, NSW.

During February 1918 William broke his leg while playing football against the 3rd Regiment. 

Commenced return to Australia on 5 March 1919 aboard HT Port Sydney disembarking on 11 April 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney.

During 1921c William married Emily L. Pierce in Balmian, NSW.
