Trooper George Ballangall Brown.

George Ballangall Brown. Trooper, No.249, B Squad. 11th Light H. Born and educated at Duaringa. He is the son of George Brown and Mary Ann Brown, of Randwick St., North Rockhampton. Prior to enlisting he was employed at Minnie Downs Station, near Tambo. Enlisted at Tambo in December, 1914, and went into camp, where he was attached to the 11th Light Horse Regiment. Sailed for Egypt in March, 1915, and arrived in April, 1915. Went to Cairo for training. He left for Gallipoli in June, 1915, and went right through the campaign. Was wounded and was sent to hospital. After the evacuation he returned to Egypt, and went over to the Palestine front. Went through the battles of Gaza, Romani, Jordan Valley, Jericho, Jerusalem, and on to Damascus. (Was wounded in the eye). He was in action when the Armistice was signed, and went to Egypt with the Army of Occupation.
