ROY TENNYSON McLOSKEY was born on 22nd November, 1892, at Elmore, Victoria. His parents were Mr. James Power McLoskey and Mrs. Harriet Emily McLoskey. He was educated at the Castlemaine Grammar School, and joined the staff of the Bank at Maldon, Victoria, on 4th January, 1910. In February, 1911, he was transferred to Inglewood (Victoria); in October following to Warracknabeal; in May, 1912, to Warragul, as ledger-keeper; in January, 1913, to Benalla; in April, 1914, to Flinders Street West, Melbourne; in September, 1915, 1912.
Roy McLoskey enlisted in July, 1916, No. 5879 of the 24th Battalion, A.I.F. He was not in action in France until the Battle of Bullecourt on 3rd May, 1917, when he received a shot in the head and was reported as missing. Later enquiries elicited the fact that while lying unconscious in No Man's Land a shell exploded near him and killed him instantly.
