"...6153 Private William Sawyer, 28th Battalion, of Dalwallinu, WA. A farmer before enlisting in July 1916, Pte Sawyer left Australia for England with the 17th Reinforcements in November 1916, and arrived in France for service on the Western Front in April 1917. Pte Sawyer was killed by German artillery fire Glencorse Wood, Belgium, on 20 September 1917. Aged 25 at the time of his death, Pte Sawyer has no known grave." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
