Pte. John Christie 8th Battalion AIF, did service in Gallipoli where he served for many months and was promoted Corporal, and afterwards in France, where he was wounded on 15 July 1916 and evacuated to England. He was returned to Australia in early 1919. It seems John married an English girl just prior to returning to Australia.
His two older brothers, 5574 Pte. Eleas James Christie and 4998 Lce. Cpl. Maurice Christie, both of the 21st Battalion, were killed together on same day, 20 March 1917.
