He was 30 and the son of Benjamin and Hannah Eliza Pittersen of Railway Parade, Smith's Mill, Western Australia.He was born under the surname of Stribley, one of two children from his mother’s first marriage.  His younger half-brother Harold Bendik Pittersen (served as SCOTT) also fell.
