Joseph Wenceslaus ABFALTER was born in Clare, South Australia on 28th September, 1895

His parents were John Francis ABFALTER & Ellen MILLIGAN (formerly SMITH)

He married Katie Lucy LEE in St Ignatius Church in Norwood, South Australia on 24th September, 1921

He enlisted for WW1 on 10th January 1917 and embarked with the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade from Melbourne on the HMAT Port Sydney with the 30th reinforcements on 9th November, 1917 - he returned to Australia on 9th July, 1919

He enlisted for WW2 on 2nd October, 1939 in Adelaide with the Garrison Battalion and was discharged on 19th May, 1944 as Lance Sergeant with the 4 AST Coy Staff

Joseph died in South Australia on 28th June 1978 and is buried in Centennial Park Cemetery

His brother Arthur Francis ABFALTER (SN 66409) also served with the NSW reinforcements 20 during WW1 - his ship was recalled owing to cessation of hostilities
