Brother of Mark O'Keeffe who returned to Australia on 13 August 1919 having served with the 3rd Machine Gun Squadron; Frank O'Keeffe who returned to Australia on 8 June 1919 having served with the 46th  Battalion

Husband of Alice O'Keeffe nee Pinnegar of Robert Street, Kalgoorlie, WA. James and Alice married in Kalgoorlie, WA during 1913c.
