He was 29 and the son of John and Lucy Ann Finning, of "Hazeldene," Pinhoe, Exeter, Devon, England.

He is honoured on the Hele's School War Memorial  in Devon.

He is honoured on the Hele's School War Memorial  and the Pinhoe War Memorial in the churchyard of St. Michael’s in Pinhoe, Devon.

Pinhoe is a former village, manor and ecclesiastical parish, now a suburb on the north eastern outskirts of the City of Exeter in the English county of Devon; it was incorporated into the City of Exeter in 1966.

It appears he initially emigrated to USA-16 Sep 1911
