Albert Govers was only 15 years of age when he enlisted and, turned 16 aboard the ship taking him to Europe and was 16 years and four months of age when he was killed by a shell at Flers 5 November 1916.
His dad, 2569 Alfred Ernest Govers enlisted and served in the 33rd Battalion at the age of 58. (he gave his age as 43). He was returned to Australia during 1918 at 60 years of age.
Two other brothers, 2568 Alfred Thomas Govers and 1314 Arthur William Govers both served in the AIF and returned to Australia.
