Son of George and Mary Ann Vile of Neil Street, Harden, NSW later of 'Edithville', Harden, NSW . Brother of Percy Edgar Vile who was killed in action at Gallipoli on  29 April 1915 while serving with the 3rd Battalion and is buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Row L, Grave 14
