Biography

Algernon Wasbol James BRITTON was born on 14th November, 1894 in St Lawrence, Queensland

His parents were Wascoe Henry Algernon BRITTON and Alison Marie Harvey FRANCKE

Algernon married Violet Alice GODSELL in 1916 in Queensland

He enlisted on 14th April, 1916 with the Australian Army - he was with the 26th Battalion, 18th reinforcements - Unit embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Demosthenes on 23rd December, 1916

He was Killed in Action on 5th October, 1917 in Zonnebeke, Belgium - buried in Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium - he is also honoured on the Australian War memorial

He was awarded the British War Medal with Clasps & the Victory Medal.
