He was the son of Robert and Susan Ellicott of 4 Park Terrace, Copplestone, Devonshire, England. 

Age on arrival in Australia - said to be 26

Enlisted  3 March 1915 Private 26th Battalion, Headquarters

Unit embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on board HMAT A60 Aeneas on 29 June 1915-he was then said to have been aged  26. He saw service at Gallipoli. He sustained Gunshot wounds at least three times in France and was gassed.
