He was 33 and the son of Julia and the late John W Dupen of Hayle- Hayle (Cornish: Heyl, "estuary") is a small town, civil parish and cargo port in west Cornwall, United Kingdom. It is situated at the mouth of the Hayle River (which discharges into St Ives Bay) and is approximately seven miles north-east of Penzance.
He is remembered on the war memorials at Hayle and in Phillack in Cornwall, and on the Australian Memorial – London.
His brother, Engineer Captain Arthur Phillips Leslie Dupen also fell.He served with the Royal Navy, HMS Egmont-Died 25 Dec 1918, aged 47 in at Royal Naval Hospital, Bighi, Malta. Interred Malta (Capuccini) Naval Cemetery.
