WWI
L/Cpl. Owen Jurd, like his Troop Commander, took a gunshot wound to the left hip. He was admitted to 41st Field Ambulance RAMC, evacuated from Anzac Cove on the hospital ship "Delta" and sailed for Alexandria that afternoon.
L/Cpl. Jurd returned to duty with the 8th, L.H. Regt. and in January 1916 at Heliopolis Camp Egypt, promoted to Sergeant, he returned to Australia in Nov. 1916 and was discharged from the A.I.F. in March 1917 medically unfit.

Biography
Honoured on Wisemans Ferry District Anzac Memorial, unveiled at Dawn Service Anzac Day 2015, along with 26 others from the District who enlisted in the Great War 1914-1918
