    9 Aug 1918: Honoured Military Medal, "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 9th August, 1918, during the attack at FRAMESVILLE near AHERNS when in charge of 12 men and 2 machine guns in an advance of nearly 5,000 yards through heavy fog, he showed great coolness and judgement in reaching his objective though he had six men casualties. Though an enemy battery continued firing point blank at the team, he sheltered his men skillfully and finally got his guns into position complete with all accessories. In a further advance of 1,500 yards on the 11th August with 12 men and 2 guns he again showed great coolness and judgement in passing through a heavy enemy machine gun barrage, finally getting his guns in position intact, although he had lost 3 men during the advance. His bravery set a fine example to his men.
