Son of Henrietta Doig of 80 Garton Street, Princes Hill, North Carlton, Victoria; brother of Major Keith McKreddie Doig MC who returned to Australia on 23 July 1919 having served with the Australian Army Medical Corps and Gunner George Cameron Doig who returned to Australia on 24 December 1918 having served with the 8th Artillery Brigade. William returned to Australia on 28 August 1919 on board Kanowna
