3 brothers, all Original Anzacs, 2 resting and 1 awaiting memorialisation at Sandgate Cemetery, not forgotten.
64 years ago today, on the 7th November 1958, Private George Alphonsos Miller, 13th Battalion (Reg No-194), ganger (West Tamworth Railways), from West Tamworth Railway Station, New South Wales and Railway Reserve, Islington, N.S.W. (1967), father of two (Harry, Kathleen), was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 76. CATHOLIC 1-03. 57.
Born at Scone, New South Wales on the 30th July 1882 to Henry and Phoebe Miller; husband of Kathleen (Kate) Miller nee Miller (married 1919, Albury, N.S.W., died 20.1.1970 as Kathleen Vera Miller? Sydney, N.S.W., sleeping at BAPTIST-K NW. 37., buried 31.1.1970, unmarked grave), George enlisted 17.9.1914 at Rosebery Park Camp, N.S.W.
Wounded in action - 30.4.1915 (GSW right arm, dangerously ill). Amputation of right arm 1.5.1915.
Right arm fitted 7.11.1915.
Younger brother Meldon John (born Glennies Creek, New South Wales, 15.2.1887, enlisted 17.9.1914, Original Anzac, 13th Battalion, Reg No-195, died 2nd June 1947, age-60 - ANGLICAN 1-64. 107.) also served 1st A.I.F.
No headstone. Wooden cross erected - 6.11.2022.
I will be submitting an application to DVA asking for official commemoration at the gravesite to restore Honour and Dignity to Meldon.
Older brother Harold Herbert (Harry, born Ravensworth, New South Wales, 9.5.1880, enlisted 17.9.1914, Original Anzac, 4th Battalion, Reg No-777, DOI 28.4.1917) also served 1st A.I.F. Photo 6.

Resting at Plymouth (Efford) Cemetery, Plymouth, Devon, England. Roman Catholic Section, Row C Grave 3482. Laid to rest on the 2nd May 1917.
3 brothers served 1st A.I.F., 1 nephew.
George returned home on the 21st December 1915, being discharged medically unfit (loss of right arm) on the 18th April 1916.
Mr. Miller’s name has been inscribed on The Capt. Clarence Smith Jeffries (V.C.) and Pte. William Matthew Currey (V.C.) Memorial Wall. Name possibly inscribed on the Tamworth War Memorial.
I have placed poppies at the gravesite in remembrance of George’s service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.
