Son of Ernest G and Miriam TONKIN, 405 New Canterbury Raod, Dulwich Hill, NSW
Resided Norton Street, Leichhardt, NSW
James served at Rabaul and contracted Malaria Fever and was invalided back to Australia and discharged as medically unfit. He re-enlisted and was injured at Gallipoli and returned to Australia where he was appointed to recruiting staff at Dubbo and Newcastle. He re-enlisted for activer service with the Artillery and embarked 01 May 1918.
