Elmore Standard newspaper Ralph McKee
The following article was published in The Elmore Standard on Saturday, 12 February 1916.
Private Ralph W. McKee, who was recently wounded in the left leg in the fighting at Gallipoli, after several months of active service, has been invalided home and was accorded a hearty reception at the local railway station last evening by the residents.
The Elmore Brass Band were in attendance and contributed a programme of patriotic music, whilst Mr James Marks extended words of welcome to the soldier hero on behalf of the townspeople.
The pupils of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School gave an enjoyable entertainment in the Athenaeum Hall last evening, and the audience was loud in its appreciation of the various items submitted. The training of the children was the work of the Misses Flynn, who were complimented on all sides on the success which attended their efforts.
The proceeds are to be devoted to the school funds for improvements to the library and other purposes.
