He worked as a labourer in Sydney on discharge, the came to the Leeton area working for McKenzie widening the water canals in 1923.
He married Edith Bessie Pepper from Colinroobie, (near Leeton)
He worked on the WC&IC on the channel maintenance gang until retirement and then as a cleaner at Lanhams's Ford in the workshop until final retirement in his 80s
