Son of Richard James Oliver and Mary Ann Halladay Oliver nee Foster of Forth, Tasmania.

Brother of Richard James Oliver who returned to Australia on 9 May 1916 having served with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment and Joseph William Oliver who returned to Australia on 16 June 1916 having served with the 26th Battalion

Prior to enlisting Albert has been apprentice to the builder J. Garrett for six months.

Commenced return to Australia on 10 June 1916 aboard HT Itonus disembarking at Melbourne on 13 July 1916  for onward travel to Hobart

Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

On 3 October 1918 Albert married Marjorie Sybella McPherson in Ulverstone, Tasmania
