REV. W. G. CLARKE DIES, AGED 84
The Rev. W. G. Clarke, 84. of Northgate street, Unley Park. died at the Memorial Hospital late last night after an illness of about two months. He was a leading temperance worker, and a strong debater in the Methodist Conference, of which he was a member for 60 years. Born in 1858 at Yankalilla, he was educated at Prince Alfred College, Adelaide, and began his ministry in 1883. He travelled in a number of circuits, including Port Pirie, Naracoorte. Pirie Street, City, Laura, Kooringa, Glenelg, Mile End, Unley, and Kent Town. He held many church offices, and was secretary of the Memorial Hospital for a year. In 1919 he was appointed conference overseas mission secretary. He has been a supernumerary since 1924.
